The process

Upcycling fish skin into premium collagen

Marine collagen is made from hydrolysed cod skin through an enzymatic process in which the protein is broken down into small collagen peptides. Get the full overview of the journey from fish skin to premium collagen.

01 North Atlantic & wild-caught from sustainable fishing (FAO27)

The fish is caught

Our collagen is extracted from the skin of the large Arctic cod, caught off the coast of northern Norway. This fish has lived freely in an ice-cold, crystal-clear sea rich in nutrients, which makes it one of the finest raw materials in the world.

For generations, Norwegians have caught this exceptional fish with respect for the sea and its resources. That is why Norway today holds the world's largest stock of sustainable cod.

02 Filleting and skin collection

The cod is filleted and the skin is collected

After the catch, the cod is carefully filleted and its skin, naturally rich in collagen, is carefully preserved. Only the fish skin is used in collagen production, a part of the cod that would normally be set aside or discarded.

Nothing goes to waste and every resource is put to use, in an approach that respects nature.

03 Cleaning and purification

The fish skin is cleaned and purified

The cod skin is cleaned and purified of heavy metals and PFAS. What remains is a clean skin that complies with current legislation and can now be used in the production of our beautiful collagen.

04 Nutritional breakdown

The fish skin and its proteins are broken down into collagen peptides and amino acids

Our marine collagen contains all 20 amino acids, including the 9 essential ones that the body cannot produce itself and that come from our diet.

05 Filtration

The collagen is filtered to remove insoluble particles

The wild-caught cod skin is carefully cleaned, soaked and filtered to remove the last impurities. The pure mass obtained can then be hydrolysed into the fine collagen powder you know from Vild Nord.

06 Hydrolysis

Hydrolysed collagen powder of the highest quality

Our marine collagen is a pure natural product, hydrolysed in order to break the protein down into small collagen peptides. These peptides have a molecular weight of 3 kDa, and the smaller they are, the better the body absorbs them.

Once absorbed, the peptides are broken down into amino acids, which the body uses to build its own collagen.

clinically documented effect

Visible results within 8-12 weeks

Dermatological documentation, based on an eight-week clinical test measuring skin hydration after collagen supplementation, showed an increase in the skin's natural moisture level.

For an optimal result, we recommend taking collagen daily, including after the first eight weeks.

Collagen production in the body

Collagen is the most abundant protein in our skin, making up as much as 80% of its structure.

From the age of 25, the natural production of collagen decreases by around 1% per year. This gradual decline shows up as a loss of elasticity in the skin, as well as the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

It is usually the changes in the face that we notice first.

The effects of collagen on the skin

Collagen contributes to the elasticity and firmness of the skin, helping to reduce wrinkles and visible lines.

It plays a fundamental and entirely natural role in the structure of our skin, throughout life, whatever our age, lifestyle or history.

Testimonials

Experiences and results shared

Isabella, 30

Since I started using the collagen powder, I clearly see and feel a difference in my skin. The fine lines on my forehead and around my eyes have noticeably faded, and the texture of my skin has become smoother, on my face as well as my body.

Rikke, 32

VILD NORD has had a huge impact on my skin, especially on the wrinkles on my forehead. I am so glad I took a before and after photo, because the difference is clearly visible!

Kathrine, 46

Glowing skin is the most visible result I have seen from using Vild Nord's marine collagen, but the most important thing is that my body feels nourished and balanced. I have tried several variants and can recommend them all without hesitation.
